Identifying problems…creating solutionsThe Healthy Pregnancy Network (HPN) at Healthy Start exists to prevent painful deaths of infants and to comfort the families left behind. The HPN is about healthier babies and a healthier community. By identifying the trends in infant deaths and the breakdowns in our healthcare community today…we can plant the seeds of change, and look forward to a healthier tomorrow. The Healthy Pregnancy Network is a Fetal & Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) project. Our project is one of more than 200 similar projects in 40 states nationwide that implements FIMR’s “root cause analysis” methodology. The premise behind the Healthy Pregnancy Network---and all FIMR projects—is that infant mortality is a local issue. We know that behind the lines on our “infant mortality” graphs, there are many stories. Healthy Pregnancy Network ComponentsInfant Mortality Review: Collaborating with more than 150 local professionals to review infant deaths, identify problems and create solutions. Bereavement Services: HPN staff provides support to grieving families, coordinates an annual memorial service for families who have lost infants and trains healthcare professionals to work with families after the loss of an infant. Community Outreach: Using a Train-the Trainer model, over 60 Health Education partners have been trained to address vital, pregnancy related health issues with their own clients. A Health Educator is supported through a March of Dimes Grant, who works in the community, talking to women of child bearing age about healthy pregnancies. Community Impact Cycle ![]() |
